Dr. Frank Conaway
Born to Master Sergeant Frank Conaway Sr. & Linda Conaway at Columbus Air Force Base, Dr. Frank Conaway has been a Mississippi resident most of his life. Moving due to his father’s service, he also lived in Madrid, Spain and K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base in Michigan. Most of Master Sergeant Conaway’s career kept the family in Aberdeen, Mississippi. Finishing high school in Aberdeen, Dr. Conaway attended Northeast Mississippi Junior College in Booneville and University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) in Oxford, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry, and Minor degrees in English and Biology. Dr. Conaway then attended University of Mississippi School of Dentistry in Jackson. After attaining a doctoral degree in 1989, Dr. Conaway completed a one year residency and started his private practice in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.
Being a believer of continuing education (CE), Dr. Conaway became a member of the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD). Through the AGD, he attained a fellowship in 2001, that required 500 hours of CE as well as successfully passing a Fellowship exam. He received a Mastership award in 2009, an achievement only 10% of all dentists in the United States have earned, attending 1100 hours of CE. 600 hours of the Mastership courses were peer-reviewed clinical cases. Always looking for new knowlege and oppourtunities to serve, Dr. Conaway received Life Long Learning and Service Recognition (LLSR), completing 500 additional hours of continuing education and public service locally and internationally.
An active member in his profession, Dr. Conaway served as president and secretary of the 5th District of the Mississippi Dental Association. Working with the Academy of General Dentistry national organization, he was chairman of the Constitution and By-laws Committee and continues to serve on the Communications Council. At the state level, he is the secretary/treasurer of the Mississippi Academy of General Dentistry. In 2015, Governor Bryant appointed Dr. Conaway to the State Board of Dental Examiners. State Board functions include traveling to dental schools around the nation to administer board exams, and participating in other Dental Board governing actvities. Dr. Conaway is involved with three other organizations, the Commission on Dental Competency Assessments, the American Board of Dental Examiners and the American Association of Dental Boards.
Dr. Conaway cares about the needs of his hometown community. He served as President of the Hancock County Chamber of Commerce, President of the Bay St. Louis Rotary Club as well as other various postions within the community.
Dr. Conaway and his wife Pauline have three children, Breena, Madison, and Joshua, one grandchild, Lillian.
